Gray Southern
Gray Southern currently serves the NC Conference as Assistant to the Bishop and Conference Secretary. He has served as pastor of rural, small town and urban congregations, and twice as a District Superintendent. He revels in building relationships and helping people flourish. Gray enjoys working with lay leaders and staffs to build up communities and the Gospel’s witness. Through experience, he has helped resolve entrenched conflict.
Gray was particularly shaped by the ecumenical Lilly Endowment’s Pastor-Theologian Program, as well as, his work in the D.Min. Program at Columbia Seminary.
Married to Susan, an educator, they have two children and a delightful daughter-in-law. He gladly walks two dogs a couple of times a day and enjoys reading, hiking and music.
